Morris soccer team drops decision to Wolves
It was another tough afternoon for the Morris boys as Oswego East won the Southwest Prairie Conference match by a 3-0 score. “Actually, the first 20 minutes, we played well but the last 60, they piled on the shots,” Morris coach George Dare said. “Once they started shooting, they hit us with pretty much everything.” Jake Paradise recorded the hat trick to lead the Wolves. At halftime the score was 2-0. Oswego East recorded 33 shots on the day with 23 of those being on goal. Morris keeper Shane Dare recorded 18 saves. The Redskins had seven shots on goal including two each from Zach Schmitt, Nick Phillips and Tyler Jollay. Ferdie Dzelil had the other chance. “The kids played better than they had been playing,” Dare said. “I thought defensively Andy Oehlwein and Steve Bretweiser played well and on offense, Zach Schmitt played well at midfield.” In the JV game, Morris won 2-1 behind goals by Kyle Hall and Jake Jollay. The team is now 1-2-1. “We played really well. It's good to get that first win,” Morris coach Sean Porter said. “I thought Tom Woodard and Kyle Hall played well today.” Kevin Wendling was the winning keeper.

Reed-Custer 0
Plano knocked off Reed-Custer by a 2-0 score on Tuesday.
“Defensively we looked good,” Comets coach Andy Gleixner said. “Offensively, we need to work harder to put some balls away.”
Reed-Custer had 10 shots on goal while the Reapers had 17 shots on mark.
Brian Hedricks was in goal for Reed-Custer. He made eight saves.

GARDNER - Though Julie Pfeifer came through with two kills and two points, Gardner-South Wilmington dropped its opener Tuesday night. Also, Katie Simms had one kill and two points, Amber Eisha had three blocks, Kayla Kellogg had three points and three assists and Danielle Aichele had two points.
Brenna Hyslop tallied one kill, one block, two points and two digs, but the Lady Panthers fell 25-17, 25-7 at the sophomore level. Additional standouts were Kellie Tyler with one kill, Allison Serena with one point and six digs and Courtney Gallup and Keona Kelly with two assists.
Ali Harms led GSW with one kill, two digs and four assists, but it lost 25-19, 25-14 in the freshman match. Paige Brauer, Megan Chambers and Katie Gretz handed out three assists each.

“Everyone contributed and we played a consistent match,” Reed-Custer coach Denny Pommier said of the non-conference match.
Becky Strylowski had eight points for the Comets while Jacklyn Strouse and Richelle Reap had six and five points, respectively.
Reed-Custer won the frosh-soph match by a 25-12, 29-27 score.
Joliet Catholic Academy def. Minooka
25-16, 25-15
“We started out strong but had a weak rotation and never got our momentum back,” Minooka coach Jill Nehring said.
Lyndsay Kooi had nine assists and two kills while Alex Hill had three kills and Dariyan Hopper had four digs and three kills. Jacki Kaluzny also had an ace, a kill and a block.
In the sophomore contest, JCA won 25-21, 25-12.
Lexie Mancini had 11 assists, three digs, two blocks and a kill while Kiley Saunders had seven digs, four kills, an ace and a block. Additionally, Caleigh Hill had three blocks and a kill, Kim Ramsak had seven digs, two kills and an ace and Katie Loomis had seven digs, two kills and an ace.
In the freshman match, JCA won 25-5, 25-6 and in the “B” match it won 25-11, 25-4.

Minooka Boys at Champaign Invitational
This past weekend, Minooka finished 11th out of 23 teams at the University of Illinois Tournament in Champaign. Alex Walter's 79 was tops on the Indians and 10th best on the day overall.
In addition to Walter, Josh Manion had an 82, Brian Nolan an 85, Logan Thompson a 91 and both David Gregory and John Cappel had a 93 each.
Minooka Girls at Bolingbrook Dual
The Indians ended with a team score of 218, which bested Plainfield North and its 250 at Bolingbrook Country Club.
Amanda Cappel had a 47 to be awarded medalist on the afternoon while teammate Megan Kezerle added a 53. Additionally, Sam Gewalt had a 57 and Jordan King a 61. Also for Minooka, Krystal Paramo had a 65, Emily Vanasek had a 66, Trish Chudy had a 67 and Megan O'Connell a 68.
Minooka girls at Broken Arrow Triangular
Lockport won the meet with a team score of 192 while Naperville North was second with a 201. Minooka had a 232.
Carly Shapiro of Lockport was the medalist on the day with a score of 43. Also scoring for the Porters were Krystal Garritson with a 48, Megan Alano with a 49 and Taylor Thompson with a 52.
For Naperville North, Elisa Palluau led the way with a 45, Marisa Miko had a 49, Catherine Hiltenbrand had a 53 and Tracy Bates a 54.
For the Indians, Amanda Cappel topped the squad with a 58 while Megan O'Connell ended with a 54, Jordan King a 58 and Megan Kezerle a 62. Also for Minooka, Emily Vanasek shot a 63, Sam Gewalt a 67 and Galiegh O'Connell a 71.
In the JV meet, Lockport won with a team score of 172 while Naperville North had a 177 and Minooka a 202. Scoring for the Indians were Sammi Thompson (49), Lauren Meyer (50), Allie Omatto (51) and Krystal Paramo (52).
Dwight Boys at Pontiac and host Medal Play Tournament
At Pontiac on Friday, Brendon Wiesner of Pontiac and Logan Krople of the Trojans were the medalist with a round of 40 each on the day at the Elks Country Club. Dwight won the dual by a 169-170 score.
For Dwight, Jared Perry had a 42, Steven Balderas a 43, Michael Halloran a 44, Noah Trainor a 46 and Patrick Murphy a 54. For Pontiac, Kyle Mashing had a 41, Keena Rentz a 44, Adam Weisner a 45, Adam Intmke a 46 and Marty Schulz a 50.
Dwight is now 3-2 on the season.
In the JV meet, Pontiac won 184-204.
For the Trojans, Ryan Kaiser had a 49, Tyler Cockerham a 51, Matt Grimler and Patrick Gliwa a 52 each, Zack Sorensen a 54 and Jake Thomas a 65.
In the medal play tournament held at the Dwight Country Club, the players were divided into three flights based on their handicaps and play was 54 holes from Aug. 23 through Aug. 31. The club champion was Joel Patten who shot a one-under, 212.
The other winners included: Championship Flight Jerry Farber (second gross/214); Mike Ryerson (first net/207) and Mike Humbert and Doug Schou (second net/212). First Flight: John Holocker (first gross/242); Matt Henshaw (second place gross/246); Chuck Fieldman (first place net/208) and Gary Eich (second place net/215). Second Flight: Duane Heren (first place gross/264); Dave Siebert (second place gross/271); Mick Louis (first place net/200) and George Elsey (second place net/217).
