An armed robbery, reported about 7:10 p.m. Thursday, April 30, was under investigation Friday morning.

Two suspects from Pontiac were arrested on felony marijuana possession, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and armed robbery charges and held in the county jail.

Bond was set at $25,000 cash for Seth Curtiss, 18, and Marcus McGath, 36, both of Pontiac, in circuit court Friday. Public Defender J. D. Flood was appointed to represent them.

A bag containing 100 grams of marijuana was found in a speaker in the trunk of their car.

Deputy R. H. Coleman reported he went to 5860 McArdle Road at 7:10 p.m.Thursday where William Perry reported the robbery. Perry said he was at Rathburn and Third streets in Carbon Hill when two men in a green Ford Crown Victoria stopped. One man displayed a gun and they took more than $900 from him.
Coal City police were notified and located the car near Broadway and North streets.

Deputies and Coal City police followed the car out to Jugtown Road. Deputy Paul Clampitt went to the intersection of Pine Bluff and Jugtown roads where the car was stopped.

Both men were taken into custody and the vehicle searched. No gun was found in the vehicle. In checking the trunk, two speakers were found and a plastic bag containing the suspected marijuana was in an opening in a speaker.

The men denied committing the robbery.
