Heidi Dinelli of South Wilmington and four fellow students will be embarking upon a mission trip to Honduras.

Currently in her second year of vet school, Dinelli was named to the dean’s list for the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois for the fall 2008 semester.

The five U of I students and one veterinarian will be traveling to a ranch in Olancho, Honduras May 16-30 through the national organization Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM).

They will be working with residents in the remote Agalta Valley as part of Atlanta-based Honduras Outreach, Inc. The Agalta Valley is the poorest region in a country that ranks as one of the poorest in the Western Hemisphere. They will be joining two other veterinary teams from Louisiana and Auburn, N.Y.

In Honduras, they will be performing various free sterilization surgeries for cattle, horses, dogs and cats, as well as providing vaccinations and other miscellaneous veterinary services.

At the end of each day, they will be praying with the local people as well as providing various fun activities for the local children.

Heidi humbly requests prayers for a successful mission trip and safe return and thanks everyone for the continued support.

MLB preview: Kansas City Royals

The Royals have enough young talent to make them the team most likely to stop the Tigers from ruling the AL Central for the next few years. But they're a year, or more, away.

MLB preview: Detroit Tigers

Even with Prince Fielder, Detroit may have only the sixth-best roster in the American League in my book (maybe the seventh if the Blue Jays really put it together). In the Central, that is plenty to be the favorite.
