The Morris Theatre Guild, Inc. will present Robert Fulghum’s “All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten,” which was conceived and adapted by Ernest Zulia and music and lyrics by David Caldwell.

The production opens on Friday, June 5, 2009, runs Saturday, June 6, 2009 and continues Sunday, June 7. All three of these performances will be held at the Morris Community High School auditorium, located at 1000 Union St., Morris.

The show then concludes on Saturday, June 13, at the Dwight High School auditorium, located at 801 South Franklin St., Dwight.

Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee performance will begin at 3 p.m.

Based on Robert Fulghum’s best-selling books, Kindergarten takes a funny, insightful, heartwarming look at what is profound in everyday life. It is theatrical storytelling in revue format, with monologues, dialogues, and multiple voice narration, enhanced through the use of musical underscoring, which provides fluidity, charm, and emotional texture.

The delightful stories feature colorful characters such as: a shy little girl who insists on playing the “pig” in his class production of Cinderella and steals the show; a man whose dream of flying carries him high over Los Angeles ... in a lawn chair buoyed by surplus weather balloons; a “mother of the bride” who’s staged a perfect wedding until the bowling ball of fate rolls down the aisle; and a modern-day Greek philosopher who finds the meaning of life in a piece of broken mirror from World War II. These stories celebrate our very existence, from the whimsy of childhood to the wisdom of old age.

The cast includes veteran and new guild members. Newcomer, Samantha Courter, has had roles in Morris Community High School Shows, Fiddler on the Roof and Don’t’ Drink the Water.

Guild member Jessica Galang has had roles in Morris Community High School shows, “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Don’t Drink the Water.” Guild member Kelly Johnson has had roles in guild shows, “The Second Time Around” and “Mary Mary.”

MLB preview: Kansas City Royals

The Royals have enough young talent to make them the team most likely to stop the Tigers from ruling the AL Central for the next few years. But they're a year, or more, away.

MLB preview: Detroit Tigers

Even with Prince Fielder, Detroit may have only the sixth-best roster in the American League in my book (maybe the seventh if the Blue Jays really put it together). In the Central, that is plenty to be the favorite.
