Darins celebrate 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Darin will be celebrating their 60th anniversary on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009. 

Roy Darin and the former Shirley Michelson exchanged marriage vows on Aug. 27, 1949, in the rectory of Immaculate Conception Church in Morris. Father E.P. McDonough performed the ceremony.

Mrs. John Gram of Morris and Mrs. Gerald Christiansen of Dwight, friends of the bride, were her attendants. The groom’s brothers, Willis and Leo Darin, both deceased, were his attendants. The couple are parents of Diane (John) Olson, James (Marla) Darin, all of Morris, and Ronald (Leslie) Darin of Davis Junction, Illinois.

They also have eight grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Olson of Lakemoor, Kelly (Brian) Laughary, Brian Olson of Morris, Stephanie (Dan) Kiehl of Elgin, Mark (Alisha) Darin of Ocoee, Fla., Stacey Darin of Davis Junction, Tony Darin of Morris, Katie Darin of Chicago; two step-grandchildren, Devin and Tanner Hill of Seneca; two step-grandchildren, Devin and Tanner Hill of Seneca; five great-grandchildren, Joey and Jeffrey Kiehl of Elgin, Brayden Darin of Ocoee, Fla., Parker Olson of Lakemoor, and Leah Laughary of Morris.

A family dinner will be held at Hank’s Restaurant. A trip to Wisconsin is planned at a later date.
