Mrs. John (Hazel L.) Iverson, 96, of Morris, Ill., passed away with her loving family by her side Friday morning, Sept. 11, 2009, in Morris Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at U.C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the First United Methodist Church in Morris, with the Rev. Scott McClellan officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Born June 30, 1913, in Medaryville, Ind., she was the daughter of Albert G. and Nellie M. (Claypool) Cryer. Educated in Morris schools, she graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1931.

She married John Iverson on Oct. 1, 1932, in Chicago.

A member of the Morris Hospital Auxiliary for many years, Mrs. Iverson was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Morris. She was also an avid sports fan, following the Shabbona Braves and Morris High Redskins basketball teams. She was also a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls fan.

Among Mrs. Iverson’s hobbies were reading, music and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two daughters, Lois Darin-Lundy and Norma (Richard) Stewart-Brew, and one son, Kenneth (Donna) Iverson, all of Morris; eight grandchildren, Jeff Brooks, Jennifer (William) Darin-Carter, Cynthia (Ronald) Fosen, Scott Stewart, Dawn (Ronnie) Arnold, Tracy Rebecca (Jeff) Paulson, Eric Donald Iverson, and Kayla Nicole Iverson; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, on Aug. 14, 1993; one son, Donald, on June 24, 1953; one sister, Ethel Cryer; and one brother, Ralph Cryer.

Memorial gifts in Mrs. Iverson’s memory may be made to First United Methodist Church, the Activity Fund at Morris Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, or the Shabbona Braves Booster Club.
