A MOTORIST was charged with DUI by Grundy County deputies.

David Hayes, 48, 185 Blackstone, Coal City, was arrested about 1:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, near Division and Kankakee streets in Coal City for DUI and driving in the wrong lane. He posted $100 and his driver's license. He is to appear in court Oct. 19.

Deputy Josh Slattery reported he saw Hayes driving west on Illinois 113, in Coal City, weaving over the center line and driving on the center line.

After stopping the vehicle, the deputy reported Hayes smelled of liquor and appeared intoxicated. He failed the field tests, which were done on Kankakee Street, just south of Division Street.

Charged with DUI, Hayes was taken to the county jail where he registered .162 on the Breathalyzer test (.08 is legal intoxication).
