Seventeen members were in attendance for Seneca American Legion Post Kasal 457’s September meeting at Nicky’s Bar and Restaurant.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the financial report.

It was announced that certificates of appreciation had been delivered to several Seneca businesses, including BP Amoco, Bellettini’s, Casey’s, Clark’s Gas and the LaSalle County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, for their support of the Breakfast in the Park held in July.

Cemetery flags were picked up July 8, the commander reported.

The baseball outing to Wrigley Field this summer was successful.

The Post also conducted full military rites for Joe Heath at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Twelve members of Kasal Post took part in the Freedom Walk at Seneca Grade School held on Friday, Sept. 11.

Eight members took part in the presentation of the colors at the evening Seneca High football game.

A flag burning ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 behind the Veterans Wall on Seneca Public Library’s parking lot.  The ceremony provides proper disposal of damaged flags.

Instruction sheets for war bonuses were presented to the members. It was also announced that the instruction sheets would be available at the Seneca Public Library. This provides a one-time grant for veterans of the World War II, Korean, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Global War on Terrorism conflicts.
