Jerry A. Niehls

Mr. Jerry A. Niehls, 65, of Morris, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, Oct. 3, 2009, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his loving family by his side.

Born May 28, 1944, in Pana, Ill., Jerry was the son of Walter and Clarissa (Nichols) Niehls. He was educated in Wilmington schools.

Jerry served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965 on the U.S.S. Champlain.

He married Deborah A. Hill on June 9, 1993, in Cancun, Mexico. He was employed in the construction of the Super 8 motel in Morris. He then served as its manager for several years. He loved to travel, fish and laugh with family and friends.

He was a member of John Martin Steele Post 6045 V.F.W. in Morris.

Survivors include his loving wife of 16 years, Deborah of Morris; three sons, Sean Niehls of Morris, Brian Laing and Brian Darlington; two daughters, Brigitte Skyles and April (Eldon) Myers; five grandchildren, Shane, Jerrod, Levi, Erica and Alexis; two sisters, Kay Shroeder and Carol Schumacher; two brothers, including twin brother Larry (Dianne) Niehls and Bert (Charlene) Niehls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will mourn privately. Jerry would like to be remember as full of life, therefore, no visitation or services will be conducted per his wishes.

The family appreciated the care and support that was given to Jerry and Deborah by the staff of the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
