INVERNESS, Fla. — Mrs. Peggy L. Telfer, 70, of Hernando, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Woodland Terrace after a courageous, four-year battle with lung and brain cancer.

Born Aug. 28, 1939, in Clinton, Ill., Peggy was the daughter of Willard and Pearl Gale. She came to the Hernando area in 1992 from New Lenox, Ill.

She was a very skillful needleworker and enjoyed reading, especially Danielle Steele novels. She was a loving wife and mother, who enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Inverness, Fla.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Gene Telfer, of Hernando; her mother, Pearl Gale, of Gibson City, Ill.; her son, Gregory Alan Telfer, of Mokena, Ill.; four daughters, Theresa (Ivan) McEvoy, of Kingsville, Mo., Carol (Michael) Briggs, of New Lenox, Ill., Mary (Daniel) Whalen, of Joliet, Cindy (John) Adler, of Morris; two brothers, Willard (Cheryl) Gale, of East Hampton, Mass., and Gary (Lori) Gale, of Saybrook, Ill., her sister, Ann (Wayne) Bode, of Gibson City, Ill., 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at the Presbyterian Church in Gibson City, Ill.
