NEWARK, Ill. – Mrs. Marion Reedy Smith, 91, of Newark, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at her home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 901 N. Center St., Plano, Ill. Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Aurora.

Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South St., Plano, Ill.

Born on July 12, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of John and Anne (Kennedy) Reedy. She was united in marriage on March 13, 1948, in Geneva, Ill., to Dr. Victor H. Smith and they spent the next 27 happy years of their lives together until his passing on Sept. 22, 1975.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Smith was a registered nurse who served her country proudly with the United States Army during World War II in both, Rejkovic, Iceland, and England.

Mrs. Smith was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plano, Ill. She was also a member of Newark’s Woman’s Club. For many years, she was an avid swimmer and at one time, through the American Red Cross, taught children to swim.

She is survived by her children, Victor Joseph (Rita Goble) Smith, Margaret Lubinski, Liz A. Smith, Michael G. (Patti) Smith, and Sara Smith, all of Newark, Ill; her grandchildren, Benjamin J. (Tiffany), of Alton, Ill., Technical Sgt. Sara Lubinski of Florida, Kevin V. Smith of Chicago, Ill., Second LT Michael H. Smith of Afghanistan-Delta Troop, and Second LT Tyler J. Smith of Newark, Ill.; and her great-grandchildren, Abby Powers and Lucas Lubiniski; as well as three nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, John and Anne Reedy; her husband, Dr. Victor H. Smith; a son, Clement Smith; a daughter, Mary Smith; her twin brother, William Reedy; her brothers, John, James, and Michael Reedy; and her sister, Sara (Dr. Clement) Kincaid.
