A DRIVER was taken to Morris Hospital following an accident at Pine Bluff and Will Roads about 6:10 a.m. Tuesday.

Gary Hunt, 48, Morton, complained of neck and shoulder pain. He was taken to the hospital by Coal City Ambulance.

The other driver, Thomas Hovel, 46, 6330 Peart Road, was cited for not having proof of insurance. He was released on an I bond with a Nov. 18 court date.

Hovel told Deputy Kenneth Unland he was eastbound on Pine Bluff Road, east of Will Road, when he slowed for a stopped vehicle. In slowing, the Lumina driven by Hovel went on to the shoulder and he lost control.

The car crossed into the westbound lane and stuck the left front of the Ford Edge driven by Hunt.

MLB preview: Kansas City Royals

The Royals have enough young talent to make them the team most likely to stop the Tigers from ruling the AL Central for the next few years. But they're a year, or more, away.

MLB preview: Detroit Tigers

Even with Prince Fielder, Detroit may have only the sixth-best roster in the American League in my book (maybe the seventh if the Blue Jays really put it together). In the Central, that is plenty to be the favorite.
