TWO DRIVERS were cited for license violations by Grundy County deputies during the weekend.

Jeremy Shaw, 24, 205 Earl St., was cited for driving with a revoked license, going 81 in a 55 mph zone, and not having proof of insurance about 1:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.

Deputy R. H. Coleman reported he stopped Shaw for speeding on Marseilles Road, just west of Nettle Creek Road, and a check showed his license was revoked. He posted $100 bond and was given a Nov. 23 court date.

Jesus Rivera, 20, Aurora, was ticketed for not having a valid license and going 78 in a 55 mph zone about 7:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.

Deputy Michael James reported radar showed Rivera going 78 in the 55 mph zone while driving southbound on Illinois 47, near Nelson Road.

The deputy reported Rivera admitted never having a driver's license. He was given a Nov. 23 court date.

MLB preview: Detroit Tigers

Even with Prince Fielder, Detroit may have only the sixth-best roster in the American League in my book (maybe the seventh if the Blue Jays really put it together). In the Central, that is plenty to be the favorite.
