COAL CITY — Mr. John Chester Spiewak, 60, of Coal City, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at his home.

Born Dec. 7, 1948, in Berwyn, Ill., John was a son of the late Chester John and Ann R. Chmela-Spiewak. He was a 1965 graduate of Morton East High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam Era.

John married Sharon Kasper on May 29, 1971, in Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Cicero, and she survives.

John was most recently employed as the maintenance director with The Inn at Willow Falls in Crest Hill. He was known to enjoy kayaking, home improvements and vacationing in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Marie; one daughter, Tisha (Dan) Spivey; and one son, Greg (Maryann) Spiewak, all of Coal City; one grandson, Kevin Spivey; and two granddaughters, Lily and Madelyn Spiewak.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A family memorial for John will be held at a later date.
