Alarm Detection Systems announced its recent purchase of the security assets of MBN Security Systems of Morris.

Aurora-based ADS will provide monitoring, repair and inspection of alarms for the majority of MBN’s customers.

“Mark and Tammy Blackwell have run a terrific security business out of Morris for more than 20 years,” Alarm Detection Systems CFO Terry Olah said. “When they decided to concentrate on their home entertainment business, they wanted a reputable company to take care of their security customers. Those desires led them to our company.”

“I always knew when it was time for me to exit the security business, Alarm Detection would be my top choice,” MBN President Mark Blackwell said. “ADS has a reputation of integrity, both in its dealings with sellers and as a company, that consistently provides great service to its customers.”

The acquisition of the Morris-based company’s security assets will bring a significant number of new customers into the Alarm Detection Systems’ central monitoring station.

ADS recently was honored for operating the Central Station of the Year, so absorbing a number of new accounts will be seamless for the dispatching team.

“We are pleased that Mark has agreed to continue to sell security systems for ADS. We know he has a great understanding of security, and gives ADS a known and respected presence in the Morris area,” Olah said. “We truly believe this transaction will be very positive for MBN, Alarm Detection and most importantly, our new customers.”

“Mark and Tammy built a solid base of customers the old fashioned way, by installing quality systems to individuals and companies that want and need security,” Olah said. “We look forward to developing our relationship with our newest customers by delivering quality security services throughout the Morris region.”

This transaction is the 55th alarm acquisition completed by Alarm Detection Systems, of Aurora.
Already the largest independent security company headquartered in Illinois, the merger increases the number of Alarm Detection Systems accounts to more than 27,000.

In light of the recent setbacks with the pool project, how should the city of Morris proceed?

Stay on course! The proposed project will be an asset to the city.
It's time to scale back. The costs are getting out of hand.
It's a sign. The pool should be put in a different spot.
They shouldn't have approved this project in the first place.
Who cares? I can't swim anyway.
