Gwenda Willmington
Mrs. Gwenda Willmington, 91, of Morris, passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 15, 2009, at Morris Hospital. Her loving family was by her side.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris with Pastor Gerald Steele officiating.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St. in Morris.
Born July 15, 1918, in Roodhouse, Ill., Willmington was the daughter of Noble and Mary (Friend) Clark. She attended school in central Illinois and graduated from White Hall High School with the class of 1936.
Gwenda entered nursing training in 1936 at Passavant Hospital. She graduated in 1939 and took post graduate courses in medical nursing in St. Louis. She worked at Passavant Hospital as a floor supervisor. She was employed as a registered nurse at Morris Hospital for 18 years, and she provided private duty and individual care for many Morris residents.
She married Arthur Willmington on May 31, 1942, in Roodhouse.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur, of Morris; two daughters, Dr. Becky (Joe) Simonelic of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jill (Syd) Reeve of Morris; four grandchildren, Christopher, Kelly and Heidi Simonelic and Holly Simonelic-Strimaitis; and four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Andrew Strimaitis and Connor and Victoria Gwen Simonelic.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She volunteered for 16 years with the Red Cross and Morris Hospital Auxiliary.
Memorials may be given to the Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice or Bethlehem Lutheran Church Radio Fund.
