A South Wilmington man was placed on probation for 30 months when he appeared in circuit court last week and pleaded guilty to felony deceptive practice charges.

Kenneth Graniczny Jr., 23, 230 Lake St., South Wilmington, was sentenced to 18 days in the county jail, with credit for time served, ordered to pay $200 costs, submit a DNA sample and pay the $200 fee.

He was charged with writing five checks to Walmart on Dec. 23 and Dec. 24, 2008, which were not paid by Standard Bank.

The checks written on Dec. 23 were for $51.83, $41.21 and $28.02, while the checks written Dec. 24 were for $78.29 and $29.56.

He was also fined $200 for leaving the scene of an accident Feb. 12 on Braceville Road.

A charge of trespassing March 5 to a Polaris ATV owned by Frank Corsini was dismissed.

MLB preview: Detroit Tigers

Even with Prince Fielder, Detroit may have only the sixth-best roster in the American League in my book (maybe the seventh if the Blue Jays really put it together). In the Central, that is plenty to be the favorite.
