EAST BROOKLYN, Ill. — Mrs. Marie Vota, 103, of East Brooklyn, Ill., passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 1, 1906, in South Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Massimo and Maria (Ferrari) Sarti.  She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington.

Marie was previously employed by the Fox Center in Dwight. She owned and operated Almaree Bowling Alley in South Wilmington for many years with her husband.

Survivors include her son, Joseph (Dorla) Vota of South Wilmington; grandchild, Terry Vota; three great-grandchildren, Kortni (Jeff) Emerson, Kara (Ron) Housman and Krystle (Joel) Carpenter; six great-great-grandchildren, Makenna and Madison Emerson, Ayden and Avery Housman, and Gavin and Kole Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Vota, whom she married July 22, 1924 in South Wilmington; infant son, Albert Vota; two brothers; three sisters; and her dog, Jordan, in June 2009.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, from the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd, South Wilmington chapel, to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Entombment will be at Woodlawn Mausoleum in Joliet.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to donor’s choice would be appreciated.
