Born Aug. 3, 1941, in Fairbury, Ill., Ron was son of Harry and Ernestine (West) Skinner. He married Bernice Bock Oct. 5, 1963, in Sibley, Ill.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Bernice; his daughter, Shelley (Joe) Izzo, of Oswego. Ill.; a son, Brian (Gena) Skinner, of Oswego; sisters, Kay (Russ) Russell of Texas and Vic (Bill) Krouse of Champaign, Ill.; brothers, Gary (Peg) Skinner of Indiana and Mark (Jane) Skinner of Gibson City, Ill.; six grandchildren, Nick, Blake, Sam and Grace Izzo, and Arabella and Charlie Skinner; 31 nieces and nephews, several great and great-great neices and nephews.
He is preceeded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; and his grandparents.
Ron was educated at Melvin-Sibley High School. He retired from Caterpiller after 33 years, and he worked part time at Grainco for 10 years. He was a trustee for the Village of Dwight, and he held the offices of president, vice president and church properties at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Ron loved to hunt, fish and watch his Chicago White Sox. He was a devoted and very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Ron had friends wherever he went, whether he was visiting his childhood home of Sibley, driving around his hometown of Dwight or cheering at a grandchilds' sporting event. If he didn't run into an old friend, he'd just start talking and quickly make a new one.
Ron will be greatly missed, but he will live on through every friend he's ever made and every member of his family.
We've all been truly blessed by his presence in our lives.
