MINOOKA — Mr. James W. Clark died recently at age 94.

Born Feb. 27, 1915, James was the son of William and Maggie (Powers) Clark in Seward Township in Kendall County.

James farmed up to 1960 in the Kendall, Will and Grundy County area. He worked for C. Thompson and Son and volunteered with the Minooka Fire Department. He retired in 1979 from the State of Illinois as a highway maintenance worker.

He enjoyed retirement going fishing, gardening and mowing the lawn. He enjoyed going to dinner on Saturday nights and playing a Lone Hand of Euchre.

Once asked about a memorable moment in his life, he answered “I got married” to his wife of 69 years, Leona (Drauden) Clark.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Richard (Mary), David and Jean Clark, and Judith (David) Corbin; four grandchildren, Alan and Keith Clark, Shawn (Jen) Corbin and Colleen (Chris) Fals; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler and Ashley Fals.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, June Avery, Evelyn Skole and Virginia Decman.

James taught his children by example — go to work, be early and work hard. Today, his family celebrates James return to his heavenly father.  Alleluia, Alleluia, Amen.

Funeral services for James W. Clark will be Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 303 E. St. Mary’s St., Minooka, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minooka.

Visitation Sunday will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
