Myrtle R. Rudow

Mrs. Myrtle R. "Rudy" Rudow, 78, of Morris, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 24, 2009, at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born June 1, 1931, in Mazon, Myrtle was the daughter of Elbert and Alverne (Colwell) Elam. She received her education in the Mazon schools.

Myrtle married Ferdinand E. Rudow on Jan. 15, 1949, in Morris. She was employed with Sponge Cushion for several years. She was a lifelong seamstress in her home.

She enjoyed her flower gardens and treasured the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include her five daughters, Kathy (John) Guistat and Sue (Mike) Butler, both of Morris, Karen Daschner of Seneca, Beth (Ron) Lantz of Mazon and Laura (Philip) Martin of Minooka; one son, Frank (Gloria) Rudow of Lockhart, Texas; nine grandchildren, John (Julia) Guistat, Michael (Sarah) Daschner, Heather Daschner, Megan Daschner, Paula Rudow, David (Dana Holmes) Peterson, Amanda Lantz, Brian Martin and Eric Martin; four great-grandchildren, John "J.R.," Karil and Megan Guistat and Sean Daschner; four sisters, Mary (John) Overbey of Centralia, Wash., Ardith McKibber of Albion, Ill., Lois (John) Snyder of Morris and Barbara Crandall of Vader, Wash.; two brothers, Robert (June) Elam of Morris and Paul (Kathy) Elam of Washington; special niece, Diane (David) Buder of Lino Lake, Minn.; along with many nieces and nephews.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 24, 1984; one son, Paul, in infancy; one sister, Rita Wright; and two brothers, David and Richard Elam.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at U.C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at the funeral home. Deacon Dennis Kobs will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Memorial gifts can be directed to the family for distribution to local charities of their choosing at a later date.
