Two accident suits dismissed

Two suits filed after car accidents were dismissed in circuit court Tuesday by agreement of the parties.

Viola Calhoun filed suit Dec. 18, 2008, against Stephen Shay of Vine Street, seeking damages for injuries suffered in an accident Feb. 13, 2007.

The complaint charged Calhoun was northbound on Division Street, when Shay, who was eastbound on Benton Street, entered the intersection and collided with her car.

Calhoun was injured and sought reasonable damages.

A suit filed Sept. 30, 2005, by Gluzwe Higuero, Patricia Palacios for herself and her son, John, against Kara Vota of Coal City was dismissed by agreement of the parties.

The complaint charged Higuero was driving eastbound on Illinois 113 near McGinty Street in Diamond, when he stopped in traffic. Vota, who was also eastbound, collided with the rear of Higuero's vehicle.

Higuero and passengers Patricia and John Palacios were injured in the accident and sought reasonable damages.
