BRIEFS: GSW’s NHS holding coat, mitten drive

Gardner-South Wilmington High School’s National Honor Society is sponsoring a gently used coat drive and new hat and mitten drive until Dec. 18.

At GSW’s basketball game on Dec. 10, the group will sell chances to win gift cards from Big R and Wal-Mart with each donation of a coat, hat, or pair of mittens.

Advent Service set for this Sunday

St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Morris will hold its annual Advent Service of lessons and carols at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.

The lessons will be read by civic and religious leaders of the community.

The free-will offering will benefit Grundy Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity.

Refreshments will be served.
