CARBONDALE, Ill. — Eric "Rick" W. Holmes, 63, of Carbondale, Ill., passed away at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Born Sunday, Dec. 30, 1945, Rick was the son of Robert Wallace and Dorothy Ann (Juby) Holmes in Elgin, Ill. He married Pamela Jo Stafford on Aug. 21, 1971, in Elgin.

He graduated from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale with a bachelor's degree in education.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela; one brother, Steven (Susan) Holmes of Frisco, Texas; one sister-in-law, Priscilla (William) Oswald of Richland Center, Wis.; four nephews; one great-niece; two great-nephews; two aunts; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin, Ill., 60123.

Burial will follow at Bluff City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Friday, Dec. 11.

Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Larkin Children's Home.
