Auxiliary hoping to bring joy to veterans home during holidays
Seneca group bakes cookies, makes afghan to assist La Salle facility
Jackie Brewster and Margaret Grober are working to see that the seven women at the La Salle Veterans Home have a good Christmas.
Those plans, along with other activities scheduled to support the La Salle County Veterans Home, were discussed Tuesday, Nov. 17, during the Seneca American Legion Auxiliary’s meeting.
The meeting was held at the Seneca Fire Station. Fourteen members were present.
A motion was approved to add $25 to each of their accounts at the La Salle County Veterans Home facility for personal use.
Shoe boxes, tissue paper, wine bottle bags, and packing tape are needed for packing the items veterans chose for family and friends at the gift shop at the La Salle facility.
The Auxiliary met Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Methodist Church and made 20 dozen cookies for the Christmas party at the La Salle Veterans Home. The Christmas party was held Saturday, Dec. 5.
“Gifts for Yanks” is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at the La Salle Veterans Home. Members will meet at 8:15 at the Methodist Church to carpool to La Salle.
Pat Neuendorf will take her patriotic afghan she has made as a fundraiser for the La Salle Home to the facility.
The Veterans Home made over $300 on the last afghan, which helped to defray the cost for special programs for the veterans.
