Deputy finds marijuana on area men
BOTH OCCUPANTS of a truck stopped in Gardner about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday face marijuana possession charges.
The driver, Steven McCorkle, 20, Essex, was wanted on a Grundy County warrant for failure to appear on a possession of marijuana charge. He could not post $500 cash bond on the warrant and was taken to the county jail.
He also had a small amount of marijuana in his right sock. He was to be issued a notice to appear on a charge of marijuana possession.
A passenger in the truck, Joseph Alksnis, 19, 414 Center, Gardner, had a bag containing a small amount of marijuana in his shoe and was charged with possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana. He was given a notice to appear in court and released.
Deputy Brett Black reported he saw a Dodge Ram being driven north on Jackson Street in Gardner with a loud exhaust.
The deputy reported a computer check showed the registered owner, McCorkle, was wanted for failure to appear on a marijuana possession charge.
After stopping the truck, Deputy Black reportedly took McCorkle into custody on the warrant. McCorkle removed a small amount of marijuana from his sock, which weighed .33 grams.
The deputy reported he receive permission to search the vehicle. In talking to the passenger, Alksnis, he recovered a bag containing marijuana from his shoe. The marijuana weighed .85 grams.
