Mrs. Benjamin (Mary A.) Kelly, 91, of Morris, formerly of Berwyn, Illinois, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, Jan. 4, 2010 in Morris Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center with her loving family by her side.

Born on Jan. 9, 1918, in Chicago, she was the daughter of Frank and Victoria (Kudzior) Smutka. She was raised and educated in St. Hedwigs Catholic Orphanage in Niles, Ill. On June 9, 1945, she married Benjamin F. Kelly in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. With her husband they enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing. She was a collector of Shirley Temple and Betty Boop dolls and was a member of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Benjamin F. Kelly of Morris; two nieces, Francine Rosa and Victoria Darmody of Coal City; two nephews, Frank (Bob Reitz) Smutka of Justice, Ill. and Theodore Smutka of Aurora.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sophie Silver; one brother, Frank A. Smutka; and one nephew, Thomas Kutinac.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. Fr. Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Stickney, Ill.

Friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at U.C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home, Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris.
