A MORRIS man was charged with the theft of two 30-packs of beer Thursday, following an investigation by Grundy County detectives.

Raymond Bannon, 32, 628 Bedford Road, posted $100 bond and was given a Feb. 22 court date.

Sgt. R.H. Coleman reported he was called to DJ's BP, 3485 Illinois 47, about 10:10 p.m. Jan. 12 after witnesses reported the theft. Sgt. Coleman said he was told two men purchased a couple quarts of beer, while a third man left the store carrying two 30-packs of beer.

All three men got in a Lincoln Towncar and went south on Illinois 47.

Det. Dan Winchell reported security video from the station was viewed on Jan. 13 and copied on Jan. 15.

Arrangements were made for Bannon to come to the sheriff's department on Thursday, Jan. 28. About 11 a.m., he was interviewed by Det. Winchell and charged with the misdemeanor theft.
