A RURAL Morris man was charged with DUI about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, in the Goose Lake area.

Daniel Altiery, 43, 5925 E. South Prairie Road, was also cited for illegal transportation of liquor and going 65 in a 55 mph zone.

Deputy Josh Slattery reported he saw Altiery leave the lot at Gippers II and go west on Pine Bluff Road. He reported Altiery was accelerating rapidly. Radar reportedly showed him going 65 in the 55 mph zone.

The deputy reported he followed Altiery south on Erickson Road and was able to stop him near Carper Road.

Deputy Slattery reported Altiery smelled of liquor, had slurred speech and had trouble finding his driver's license. An open bottle of beer was in the cup holder.

Altiery failed the field sobriety tests and was charged with DUI. At the county jail, he refused to take the Breathalyzer test.

Altiery posted $100 and his driver's license. He was given a Feb. 22 court date.
