Driver who hit guardrail charged with DUI
A BRAIDWOOD driver who struck the guardrail at the intersection of Reed and Berta roads about 2:15 p.m. Sunday was charged with DUI.
Robert Blondin, 62, Braidwood, was also ticketed for improper lane usage. He posted $100 and his driver's license. He was given a Feb. 22 court date.
Deputy Victor Elias said he responded Sunday afternoon to complaints of a vehicle abandoned at the intersection of Reed and Berta roads.
He found a Toyota in the ditch at the southwest corner of the intersection. The right front of the car had struck the south guardrail.
No one was around the car, so the deputy called for it to be towed. A short time later, Blondin arrived at the scene with a tow truck.
While talking to Blondin, Deputy Elias reported he could smell alcohol and Blondin appeared intoxicated.
Blondin failed the field sobriety tests and was charged with DUI. At the jail, Blondin submitted to the Breathalzyer test and registered .103 (.08 is legal intoxication).
