Government behavior has been dangerous
Kentucky Senator Bunning recently held up unemployment benefits, by insisting those benefits should be funded, or paid for. Immediately opinion railed against him, as he stood alone. He became the latest villain of the mindless major media, including news sites on the web.
Senator Bunning was making a point, and his point was absolutely correct. He advocated funding this expenditure with money in existence (if we have any), as opposed to borrowing, or having the Fed, conjure it out of thin air. His nearly unanimous castigation actually may have been necessary to allow bringing money into existence that we most likely don’t have.
In reality he should have been applauded for the courage to stand up and make a point of the reality that we can’t exist in some fantasy world where the government simply prints or borrows money for everything it wants.
Maybe you think the government can continue to do this? Let’s say they conjure up money for all of us, so we don’t have to work. We could all just sit and drink cold lemonade on blissful summer days, and watch latest sports show. One problem with that is why make lemonade, electricity, televisions, or play sports when the government will just give it all to you? This is just how ridiculous and dangerous the behavior of the government has grown.
Perhaps Bunning might have chosen something else, but this was a good choice, it dealt with people’s survival. The longer the government acts with reckless abandon with its spending, the worse the consequences will be. There will be a day of reckoning, and when it comes, there will be more than a several days delay of unemployment. It was meant as a lesson, so to Senator Bunning I say thanks for trying to tell us all something we should already know.
