Teen volunteers clean wheelchairs at Silver Cross
JOLIET — In-service volunteers woke up early Sunday morning, Jan. 10 for the semi-annual “wheelchair round-up” at Silver Cross Hospital.
Volunteers gathered all the wheelchairs throughout the hospital to make repairs and clean from top to bottom.
Volunteers included: Maureen Andrews, Gail Ball, Zack Buchanan, Lizzy Buchanan, Margaret French, Katie French, Alice Kraynak, Carroll Koliboski (volunteer and employee), Jackie White and Laura Valencik.
The volunteers went above and beyond to ensure all the wheelchairs were in perfect condition before putting them back in service for patients and visitors.
“Our wheelchairs are used for patients and visitors, so it is very important that we take the time to make sure they are working properly and are ready to serve this community,” says Laura Valencik, director of volunteer services. “Our volunteers at Silver Cross Hospital are dedicated to serving the community.”
