NEWARK, Ill. — Mr. Donald R. Lee, 63, of Newark, Ill., died Monday afternoon, July 26, 2010, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.

Born Nov. 22, 1946, in Sandwich, Ill., Donald was the son of Ray & Mildred (Alsvig) Lee.

Donald served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. from October 1965 until September 1971. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Donald married Shirley (Johnson) June 21, 1969, at the Newark Lutheran Church. He had been a driver for Cannonball Express Trucking Co. in Montgomery for many years.

He was a member of the Newark Lutheran Church. He also had been an EMT for the Newark Fire Dept. and was an avid model train hobbyist.

Donald is survived by his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Peggy (Larry) Hargis of Greensburg, Penn.; a son, Christopher (Lori) Lee of Sandwich, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Logan, Trebor, Cody and Nathan Lee, Chelsey, Caitlan and Carlee Hargis; two half-sisters, Nancy (Pat) Hilton of San Jose, Calif.. and Joldene (John) Eskey of Tuscon, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, at the Newark Lutheran Church. Pastor Charles Sampson will officiate.

Interment will be at the Millington-Newark Cemetery. Chaplain Scott Merchant will conduct the committal service.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. in Newark.
