NEWARK, Ill. - Mrs. Katherine Marie Duncan, 66, of Newark, Ill., died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at her home.

Born Nov. 16, 1943, in Phelps, N.Y., Katherine was the daughter of Pete and Marion (Austin) Denhamer. She married James E. Duncan, Sr., on March 24, 1984 in Bolingbrook. She had retired as a data processor for the Electro-Motive Co and then the E.D.S. Co., which are both in Countryside, Ill.

Katherine is survived by her husband, James E. Duncan, Sr. of Newark; three daughters, Pamela (Michael) Napolitano of Aurora, Ill., Anita (Robert) Floresca of Bolingbrook, Ill., Bonnie Duncan of Chicago; four sons, Robert Gruber of Port Barrington, Ill., Richard (Wendy) Gruber of Crest Hill, Ill., John (Sylvia) Duncan of Lockport, Ill., James (Marie) Duncan Jr. of Romeoville, Ill.; and 14 grandchildren, Christopher Napolitano, Shawn Sahlberg, Ana Marie Napolitano, Emily Gruber, Vincent Rodriguez, Mikayla Gruber, Aaden Gruber, Nicholas Gruber, Haley Gruber, Jake Floresca, Alexis Floresca, Ben Floresca, John Cody Duncan and Gabriella Duncan; one sister, Barbie (Chuck) Haydel of California; two brothers, Jerry Denhamer of Bolingbrook; and Mark (Donna) Sukacz of Brookfield, Ill.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Pete & Marion Denhamer-Sukacz; her step-father, Chester Sukacz; and a grandson, Dylan Gruber.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, with Pastor Steve Lombardo Jr. officiating at the West Lisbon Lutheran Church.

The family will greet visitors from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, at the church.

Cremation services were accorded by the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. in Newark.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. in Newark is in charge of arrangements.
