Authorities have completed their investigation into the death of a 55-year-old Carbon Hill resident on Wednesday, Aug. 18.

Grundy County Coroner John Callahan said Paul Fritz died of natural causes. His body was discovered in their home by his wife, Suzanne Fritz.

The couple had been involved in a domestic situation three days prior in which she was cited, and he received medical attention.

Callahan said the domestic situation had nothing to do with the death.

Both the coroner and Grundy County Sheriff’s Department conducted a thorough forensic death investigation at the scene.

An examination the following day at the coroner’s office resulted in a preliminary finding of natural causes.
The results of the toxicology tests support the preliminary finding, Callahan said today.

“An unfortunate incident,” he said. “Paul Fritz’s death is of a natural cause, and the injury he had suffered three days earlier did not contribute to his demise.”

MLB preview: Kansas City Royals

The Royals have enough young talent to make them the team most likely to stop the Tigers from ruling the AL Central for the next few years. But they're a year, or more, away.

MLB preview: Detroit Tigers

Even with Prince Fielder, Detroit may have only the sixth-best roster in the American League in my book (maybe the seventh if the Blue Jays really put it together). In the Central, that is plenty to be the favorite.
