Person swaps one bike for another

SOMEONE STOLE one bicycle from a resident, while leaving another in its place Monday, Aug. 23.

Joe Jones told Morris police his orange Mongoose bicycle was stolen from the front porch of his apartment on Twilight Drive, and a girl’s blue Roadmaster bike was left where his bike had been.

Police noted a computer check of the Roadmaster did not show a match to any bicycle reported stolen.

Jones told police the theft occurred just minutes after he returned home from riding his bike.

Police are asking anyone with information on the stolen or recovered bikes to call the department at (815) 942-2131.
