Nolan, Rooney make presentation on local trolley easily available
The building that holds the Morris restaurant La Hacienda — formerly Bigger Bite and King Kone — on Liberty and Benton Streets has a much richer history than just eateries. It was originally a station where passengers could board an electric trolley that ran through town and east and west to Joliet and La Salle, with spurs to Yorkville and Coal City, among other towns.
It only cost a nickel to ride, and it was a popular means of transportation before highways and cars became king.
