Donation an example of why Morris is great

Published: Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 5:03 a.m. CDT

The week before Christmas, one of Morris’ best friends, Judy Roth, came to my shop to bring a present from her coffee club. These wonderful people decided, instead of their usual grab bag gift exchange for Christmas, they would put the money to better use by donating the money to the Morris Rotary Club Food for Kids backpack program. I do not know the names of the rest of the coffee club, but I thank you all.

Morris is full of people who wish to help the people right here in town who need a little help to get by from time to time. The kids this program helps are kindergarten through fifth grade. They take a package of food home in their backpack that the Morris Rotary Club provides. The Rotary Club raises the money through donations, buys the food and packs it. We do 200 bags per week.

If you are inclined to help with this program, you can send a donation to Morris Rotary Club, P.O. Box  741, Morris, IL 60450. If you wish to learn more about this great program, you may call my cell phone at (815) 274-2131.
