A Morris man reported an accident on Wednesday, Jan. 11, that occurred at the intersection of Chapin Street and Division Street in downtown Morris.

Jeff L. Swiggett, 52, of 716 E. Chapin St., Morris, told police he was westbound on Chapin Street and pulled up to the stop sign at Division Street. He advised he checked traffic and, when it was clear for him to turn right, he proceeded to turn right.

He told police Jessica Zaragoza, 26, of Kankakee, Ill., pulled up to the right of him, as Chapin is a one-way street westbound, and was going to turn right. Swiggett said when he turned right, he struck Zaragoza, causing damage down the entire passenger side of his vehicle.

Zaragoza told police Swiggett did not have his turn signal on to turn right, so she pulled up to the right of him as she believed he was either going straight or turning left.

Zaragoza said Swiggett turned right and hit her vehicle.

Do you support Morris' decision to allow video gambling in city establishments?

Yes. It's an opportunity to raise needed funds.
No. This sort of activity should be kept out of the community.
I'm undecided on this issue.
