The brakes on a semitrailer that overturned Friday, Jan. 20 on Illinois 47 were not functioning properly, according to police.

Malcome Edward Wright, 58, of 33 Lynwood Drive in Morris, told Morris police he was traveling north on Division Street in his Freightliner Columbia semitrailer when he attempted to turn left onto Illinois Avenue going west.

The truck rolled on its passenger side coming to rest partly in the drive of Wills Automotive and on Illinois Avenue.

Wright said he had no idea why the truck rolled.

Illinois State Police inspected the vehicle and found that none of the trailer brakes were operating properly. The vehicle was placed out of service.

Do you support Morris' decision to allow video gambling in city establishments?

Yes. It's an opportunity to raise needed funds.
No. This sort of activity should be kept out of the community.
I'm undecided on this issue.
