The Morris Theatre Guild, Inc. will once again hold open auditions for its spring musical production of “Godspell the Musical.”

The music and lyrics are by Stephen Schwartz and the book is by John Michael Tebelak.

This final day of auditions will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, in the conference room of the Canalport Community Center, where the Morris Theatre Guild, Inc. is located. The address is 516 West Illinois Avenue, which is located at the west end of Illinois Avenue in Morris.

The story: Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz, “Godspell the Musical” boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, “Day by Day.” Drawing from various theatrical traditions such as clowning, pantomime, charades, and vaudeville, “Godspell the Musical” is a ground breaking and unique reflection on the life of Jesus with a message of kindness, tolerance, love, and peace.

“Godspell the Musical” opens on Friday, April 13 at the Morris Theatre Guild, Inc. Additional performances will be held April 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22. All Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and both Sunday matinee performances will begin at 2:30 p.m.
