‘Souper Bowl’ not just a trivial matter
Contest just one part of Peace Lutheran’s efforts
Peace Lutheran Church, Morris, will hold its annual “Trivia Challenge” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, to raise dollars for the Souper Bowl of Caring.
The community is invited to participate in this fun evening. Get a team together, select a theme for your table, bring a snack to share and make a donation per person. Prizes will be awarded for the best theme/decorations and for the most correct answers.
Souper Bowl of Caring Weekend is a nationwide event that will raise a lot of money and food for the needy. Peace’s confirmation class collects food donations, dollars from the congregation, and hosts the Trivia Challenge, with all money staying right here in our own community, donating our entire Souper Bowl collection to We Care of Grundy County.
The youth began their Souper Bowl servant project on Jan. 28, by distributing grocery bags in the neighborhood around Peace Lutheran Church for their food drive.
On Saturday, Feb. 4, from noon to 2 p.m., will be the Souper Bowl Service blitz, during which the community can drop off non-perishable items at the church.
Also the students will collect the bags of groceries that neighbors have left on their porches.
The Trivia Challenge is held that evening, beginning at 6 p.m.
On Feb. 5, Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday, is held for Peace’s congregation where they can drop dollars into large soup pots.
