JOLIET — The University of St. Francis Department of Music and Performing Arts presents the debut performance of the USF Wind Ensemble, directed by music instructor Robert Stumpf.

The concert will take place on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Moser Performing Arts Center’s Sexton Auditorium, 500 Wilcox St.

The program will feature a work titled “Walden” by well-known band composer Michael Markowski and a trumpet solo by Robert Kase, dean of the university’s College of Arts and Sciences, during the ensemble’s performance of “La Virgen de la Macarena.”

Markowski is best known for his work composing music for performance bands. Notable performances of his music have been prepared by The Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West, the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America, Arizona State University, California State University-Fullerton, Rutgers University and many more. He also has received commissions for new works from a number of organizations and schools.

Kase is an active trumpet artist for the Schilke Music Corporation and his successful work as an artist/clinician has placed him in high demand as soloist and lecturer.

As a soloist, he’s appeared with the International Trumpet Guild in Germany and toured Russia, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and more. As a recording artist, Kase has performed on more than 200 recording projects, including four solo jazz recordings with his own quintet. As a studio artist, he has performed with many international recording stars including Sonny and Cher, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Andy Williams, Peggy Lee, The Tempations, Lena Horne, Wayne Newton, and many others.

To reserve your tickets for this or other Music at Moser performances, call (800) 735-7500. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for USF alumni, seniors and non-USF students. USF employees and students will be admitted free with ID.
