Driver's failure to see stopped vehicle results in collision
A Morris motorist who failed to see a vehicle stopped in an intersection Friday, Feb. 3, was unable to avoid causing a collision on Liberty Street.
Brian J. Stroup, 34, of 703 Wauponsee St., Morris, was stopped at the stop sign southbound on Liberty Street at East High Street waiting for the intersection to clear, Friday, Feb. 3, when Joshua W. Edwards, 24, of 116 E. Benton St., Morris, struck his vehicle from behind.
Edwards told Morris police he was not really paying attention to Stroup and did not realize he was still stopped at the intersection. Edwards could not reduce speed to avoid the collision.
Edwards' vehicle had front bumper damage. Stroup's vehicle had rear hatch, bumper and tail light damage.
Stroup complained of soreness, but stated he may visit a doctor at a later time.
