CHANNAHON — Channahon Mayor Joe Cook and several community members are volunteering their time to help out Aubrey Brooks.

Aubrey, the 4-year-old daughter of Channahon Police Officer Matt Brooks, was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Mayor Cook and the volunteers have taken on the name "Aubrey's Army." Their goal is to raise funds to cover some the additional expenses associated with her fight against this disease.

To help out Aubrey and her family, there will be a benefit from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Liquid Therapy on U.S. 6, just east of Channahon. A $20 donation is requested for admission, which includes pizza and soft drinks.

Additionally, there will be a live auction, raffle items and live music provided by Harvest Moon. Ronnie Bull, from the 1963 Chicago Bears championship team, will make a special appearance.

For those that cannot attend the benefit, but want to donate, an account has been opened for Aubrey Brooks at Harris Bank.

When asked why he was hosting the benefit, Mayor Cook said "Because kids can't fight Leukemia alone."

Yes. It's an opportunity to raise needed funds.
No. This sort of activity should be kept out of the community.
I'm undecided on this issue.
