Senior Henry Gronlund, son of Jim and Jeannine Gronlund of Channahon, was named the Channahon-Minooka Rotary Club “Student of the Month” for January.

In the classroom, Gronlund maintains a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Outside the classroom, he is a member of the MCHS football team and has been recognized as an All-Conference athlete. He also enjoys weight lifting and bicycling.

SPC honors 24 from band

Twenty-four members of the MCHS Band Program have been selected for participation in the Southwest Prairie Conference Band Festival at MCHS on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The students, nominated by their band directors, are selected to play in an honor band of freshmen and sophomores or an honor band of juniors and seniors. Approximately 170 students from the eight schools comprising the SPC will rehearse throughout the day on Feb. 21, and then will present a concert at 7 p.m. in the MCHS Central Campus Performing Arts Center. Admission is free. Guest conductors for the festival are Dr. Linda Morehouse, Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana and Mr. David Morrison, Director of the University of Illinois at Chicago Concert Band.
