Ventura, Guillen exchange well-wishes on jobs
(MCT) — New Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura recounts a conversation he had with predecessor Ozzie Guillen in an interview in this month's ESPN the Magazine.
Asked if he'd spoken to Guillen since being named Sox manager last October, Ventura said, "Yeah, a couple of times. He congratulated me. I congratulated him. We didn’t get into any team stuff. We get along fine. That’s not going to change just because he left here for the Marlins."
As for what will be different, Ventura told the magazine (not posted online): "I played with Ozzie for a long time, and we were good friends. I have a different personality, but we both go out on the field with the common goal of playing every day, winning and having fun. I think that’s more important than how I’m going to be different."
