Planning a wedding creates addictions . . .

I'm not much of an internet person. Don't get me wrong, I have a Facebook account and an email address. But I've never utilized Craig's List to find a roomate or sold my Barbies on Ebay, I'm just not that world-wide-web savvy.

That is until I became a bride-to-be. It's like as I wear the ring it's sending messages to my brain - "look up centerpieces," "Google the perfect wedding shoes," "have you had your Pinterest fix today?"

Now I've become that person who shops online before stepping foot in a store. Doing online searches for wedding topics has introduced me to such resources as Pinterest, Weddingbee and Smart Bride Boutique.

I made my first wedding decoration purchase from the classifieds on Weddingbee. If you would have asked me a few months ago if I would have thought to purchase used table runners, I would have looked at you like you were nuts. But I was the nuts one, I bought beautiful turquoise runners that were used once for less than half the cost if I had bought them new!

Once the brides finally become the "Mrs." they sell their goods like hotcakes. You can buy candleholders, flower petals, flower girl dresses, shoes, even wedding dresses - most only used once, some never at all if the bride changed her mind on colors or even on the groom!

The problem with my new found resourcefullness? It's addicting.

If I'm on hold for a work call, I'm searching the classifieds. If I'm waiting for my gas to finish automatically pumping, I'm "pinning it" on Pinterest.

These discoveries are both the best and worst thing that has happened to me since I got engaged. I've found wonderful ideas - creative guest books, cheap but elegant centerpieces, even what signature cocktail I want to serve.

The only thing I'm worried about now is what am I going to search for on Pinterest when I don't have a wedding to plan? Good thing baby shower ideas are the next biggest "pinned" items. I'll just go from planning one life milestone to the other.
