(MCT) — A suburban mechanic was killed when a tour bus fell onto him as he was working today near Lynwood, authorities said.

Edward Randall of Crete was under the bus fixing its brakes when it “rolled forward’’ over him, killing the 47-year-old man instantly, according to Cook County Sheriff’s spokesman Frank Bilecki.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the mechanic, of the 25100 block of South Sangamon Street in Crete, was dead on the scene.

The accident happened at 2:03 p.m. at 1810 Glenwood Dyer Road in Bloom Township, according to Bilecki.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
