Tajci bringing ‘I Thirst’ to Coal City

COAL CITY — At 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, singer/songwriter Tajci (Tai-Chee) will perform “I Thirst – the Crucifixion Story” at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 245 S Kankakee St, Coal City.

The event  will feature Tajci on keyboards, backed by electronic instrumentalist Denny Bouchard.
Since the spring of 2000, Tatiana Cameron  — who performs under the name Tajci — has shared her emotional programs in over 850 concerts, building a nationwide following for the artist who, as a teenager, was a pop music superstar in Communist Central Europe.

Tajci abandoned her fame at age 21 and fled to the United States, where she eventually began performing in churches across America.

“People are hungry to be fed spiritually and this is a great way to do it, through this woman’s music,” said Reverend John Skehan of St. Christopher’s Church in York, Maine, where Tajci performed four springs ago.

Seventeen-year-old Andrew Brown of Hampden, Maine, was in that audience as well. “She was absolutely amazing and the experience was powerful,” Brown said.

Tajci, in collaboration with Los Angeles based producer Denny Bouchard, adopted and arranged a wide array of musical styles, traditions and ethnic origins into a mesmerizing musical piece.

This performance, executed with tremendous artistry and deep sincere spirituality, features Contemporary Christian favorites such as “Via Dolorosa,” Tajci’s original songs, Hebrew and Gregorian chants and classic hymns such as “Were You There.”

Tajci’s “I Thirst” was captured on film at a performance in Los Angeles in 2004, and has been broadcast on many TV stations, including EWTN.

It has become a favorite broadcast on XM World Radio during the Easter Tridium.
